We will restrict this article to learn the basic rules of the most common of them all, the Texas Hold’em (popularly known as the Holdem).

It is a community card game where players are each dealt two cards while sharing five common cards. The two down cards remain hidden until the concluding showdown of hands. After the first two cards are dealt, a round of betting occurs. Next, three community cards are turned over (termed as flop) at the same time. This is followed by another round of betting.

Then a fourth community, the turn card, is exposed and another round of betting takes place. Ultimately, the fifth and final community card, the river card is dealt and a last round of betting ensues.

At the showdown, players make hands with the best five-card combination of their two personal cards and the five community cards and the winner is decided.
